I’ve been an NP since 2022 and have worked in Rex Cardiac Surgery for almost two years. I initially started my career as a nurse practitioner in cardiology, and while I was orienting in cardiology, I asked for the opportunity to observe cardiac surgery because I knew we would be referring patients to that specialty. When I had the opportunity to see cardiac surgery firsthand, it blew my mind in a way that medicine had not for a very, very long time. After gaining experience in cardiology, I sought out a position in cardiac surgery because of my underlying passion for the discipline.
