North Carolina Neuropsychiatry began at the University of North Carolina in 1978 as the Neuropsychiatry Research Project. For 11 years at UNC, the clinic was funded by the National Institutes of Health. In 1988, NC Neuropsychiatry, PA became the first private clinic in North Carolina devoted exclusively to medical psychiatry and rehabilitation. Since then, we have provided consultations and treatment in general psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and psychopharmacology. As the clinic has grown and developed, we have drawn patients from across the state as well as across the country. There are currently four neuropsychiatry clinics: Chapel Hill (1988), Raleigh (2008), Apex (2020).
