I have always been interested in medicine as it allows me to help people live better lives, and I enjoy the challenge of gathering information about the problem, diagnosing and then finding solutions. I am able to provide patient education and encourage people to protect and care for their most precious asset, which is their health. My approach to patient care is that I listen carefully to the patient about the details of his/her concerns to get a good picture of why they are seeking medical care. I find this provides a positive experience that then allows me to provide information and a treatment plan that allows the patient to work with me as a team to get them back on track and feeling better. I feel people do better, and make changes and improvements faster, when they feel they are part of the process and understanding of what needs to be done and how it will help to manage or improve their health, allowing them a more active role in their care. I have the most interest in preventive medicine as this is each person's opportunity to improve and maintain the best health possible.
